Solange Knowles is putting her songwriting and voice to good use. She helped create a track for a cause--the water crisis in Kenya. It's called "Music For RAIN" and we've got the video and how you can help when you read on....
The video is directed by Natalie Johns and the beautiful song was created by Solange Knowles, Chris Taylor, and Twin Shadow. As there continues to be a lack of access to clean water in countries such as Kenya, celebs with influence are getting the word out about how everyday people elsewhere in the world can help.
"Kenya" is a track created by Chris Taylor (CANT) Solange Knowles and Twin Shadow to raise money and awareness around the issue of access to water and sanitation as part of The Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN) founded by The Coca Cola Africa Foundation. RAIN brings together business, local government, NGO"s and committed individuals to tackle the problem of access to water and sanitation in Africa. All proceeds from 'Kenya", will be used to provide clean water and sanitation resources to Africa's most needy. Whether that's providing loos in Rwanda, rain harvesting roofs in Uganda or carrying containers in the Cameroon.
Here's the making of the song and video as well:
You can donate to the cause here.
The Replenish Africa Initiative, or RAIN, is therefore the signature community initiative of The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation. Backed by a six-year, $30 million dollar commitment from The Company, in partnership with other donors, RAIN's goal is to provide over 2 million people in Africa with access to drinking water by 2015. RAIN will launch over 100 water access programs across Africa, including sanitation and hygiene education programs.
